All meetings start promptly with the Meeting Topic of the Month. Introductions are welcome, however, you will not be forced to speak, although, you are encouraged to share your story, good or bad.

What you say may affect someone else, so please share!

No matter what procedure you have had, it is important to attend Support Group a few times each year to keep you on track and to remind you of why you took this journey!

Below are pictures of patients that volunteered their photos to encourage others to come to Support Group for continued maintenance of their weight loss.  They are all "DBC CHAMPS" and there are many, many more.  Our group has grown by at least 7 to 10 times with people that know what it takes to be successful!

No matter what surgery you've had,  you have to take it seriously. It is not a magic switch.

"You have to work as hard for it as you want it to work for you!"

I do not eat anything with sugar in it, if I do it has to be less than 8 grams of sugar and I eat more healthy now so I've totally changed my eating habits. You just want to. You really do. The Dayton Bariatric Center Support Group, "DBC CHAMPS", is an active support group that meets twice a month.  The patients that attend Support Group, before and after surgery, truly take weight loss surgery seriously.  No matter what procedure you have, continued attendance at Support Group can help you to, not only get to your goal but, maintain your loss.  Some of our supporters that have not had weight loss surgery have become healthier from the information obtained in our meetings.

These photos are just a few of our patients that not only take their weight loss surgery seriously, but, they realize that weight loss surgery is a tool that will only work if you use it correctly.  Having a positive attitude, continued follow-up with the surgeon, following dietary guidelines, and incorporating a reasonable exercise program (walking!) is a recipe for success!

When you are like these "DBC CHAMPS" that attend Support Group on a regular basis, the "Pay It Forward" attitude comes into play.  That means sharing your story may encourage someone else that may be thinking, "Is surgery the right option for me?", "Is making this choice a last option and not a first?", "What other changes may happen with this lifelong decision?".

If you had surgery with our office and you have not been to Support Group for a while, you are still welcome!  If you have had some struggles, we will be happy to assist you to get through them.  Your tool is always there. Are you going to pick it up and use it?!

After surgery is when your journey begins so, we wish these "DBC CHAMPS"  continued success on their weight loss journey and a big THANK YOU to all of them for sharing their personal photos and stories!
