Understanding Your Surgery

Your decision to undergo a surgical procedure to correct obesity is a very important one.

Gastric stapling surgery alone does not guarantee weight loss. The procedure aims to decrease the capacity of the stomach and slow emptying of the stomach, therefore, the amount of food you eat is decreased, decreasing the caloric intake and facilitating weight loss.

Undergoing the surgery requires meeting certain criteria. You may have already developed some of the conditions associated with morbid obesity. Following the surgery and your weight loss, some of the conditions should resolve or improve. This surgery is not the answer to all health problems, but it can help to control them since obesity is a major risk to life and health.

It is very important you understand:

By understanding, you can better participate and cooperate in attaining weight loss.
